Community Engagement Professionals Network Meeting
February 24 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm
The Community Engagement Professionals Network (CEPN) is a community of practice for the faculty and staff who are responsible for administrating a community engagement program, office, or initiative on their campus. Through networking, professional development, peer coaching, and sharing best practices, CEPN enhances members’ capacities to advance community engagement on their campus and throughout the state.
This meeting will focus on a discussion around the theme of Activating Civic Engagement to Address Campus Hunger.
As we work with our students to address hunger issues in our community, we rarely look closer to home – at our own students who are in need. The Boston Globe reports that in MA alone, 24 state colleges and universities operate food pantries to serve a growing population of students facing the dilemma of “textbooks or groceries”. Civic engagement centers have long worked on hunger issues in the local and global communities, but what form does that take when it’s literally in our own backyard? How can we mobilize our campuses and our resources to support our own students?
Join us for discussions around model programs, need assessment, and delivery.
